Scouting was introduced in Liberia in 1918 and chartered by the National Legislature on January
26, 1923. Liberia Scout Association (LSA) provides educational programs to young people
through training and other activities. Due to the fourteen years of civil war and the Ebola
epidemic, the LSA has lagged behind in terms of training for decades now and this has
contributed to the lack of progress of the Liberia Scout Association. For instance, the absence of
training and capacity development has also contributed to the prolonged leadership crisis in the
LSA.
Therefore, this project is designed to help put LSA back on the path within the acceptable standards
of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. The project will also enable our Scout leaders
to provide quality leadership services at all levels of the Association. The Training will also bridge
the human resource capacity gap of the Liberia Scout Association so that the mission of Scouting
is more relevant, properly understood and widely accepted.
