The Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Continuing its commitment towards the protection and preservation of the environment, will once again extend its share to clean and to adopt the Laguna Lake. With the assistance and support of different government agencies and non-government organizations and institution, we would further manage a transition of change and minimize the depletion of our natural resources. The project is primarily hinged towards the preservation and protection of the global environment through local environmental initiatives. The project objectives are as follows: 1. The empowerment of Scouts to become active agents for sustainable and equitable development of the environment 2. The contribution towards the protection and preservation of the environment through coordinated activities and projects 3. The conduct and delivery of varied outdoors experience for the scouts and promote a holistic environmental education for the good of the local and global environment 4. To advocate partnership which will ensure that all communities within the Laguna Lake and nearby areas enjoy a safer and more prosperous environment The Project will be using a multi-faceted approach in cleaning the area and in planting trees. A. Coastal Clean-Up. The participants will be spread in a specified area within the Laguna Lake in order to do a massive clean-up – picking of wastes, cleaning the shoreline, etc. The participants will be provided with cleaning materials for the activity. B. Tree Planting. Immediately after the clean up, the participants, divided into small groups, will be asked to proceed to a specified location for the tree planting activity. The groups will be given seedlings. Prior to planting the seedlings, a quick lecture and discussion will be held in order to give the participants a viewpoint as to the seedlings – the technical know-hows, the basic parts of the seedlings, the proper way to plant such, etc. C. Debriefing and Reflection. After the conduct of all of the activities, there will be a quick debriefing session, hinged on discussing the importance of the activities towards the protection and preservation of the environment.
