BRUNEI MUARA DISTRICT SCOUT ASSOCIATION ORGANISED THE EARTH TRIBE 2020 PROGRAMME
26 July 2020 - The Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) celebrated the annual World Environment Day 2020 with a activities beach cleaning campaign at Serasa Beach Brunei Muara District under the Earth Tribes’ Plastic Tide Turners Challenge Badge with the being mark for World Environment Day 2020 themed ‘Time for Nature’.
All participants recited the ‘Earth Tribe: Plastic Tide Turners Challenge Badge’ programme pledge prior to the start of the cleaning activity with the Scouts Chief Commissioner Haji Badar bin Haji Ali launched the cleaning campaign with highlights how local action or taken by every community and volunteer partaking in a Clean Up the World activity. This programme is aimed at providing awareness and instilling an understanding on the importance of knowledge to this generation as well as their roles in keeping the Earth clean. To fight plastic pollution and make our environment healthier by understanding how plastic consumption affects every corner of the world. Deputy Scout Chief Commissioner Cum Youth Programme Commissioner Junaidi bin Haji Hussin, Chairman of the Brunei-Muara District Scout Association Haji Jalani bin Haji Ibrahim, Brunei-Muara District Scout Commissioner Pengiran Supri bin Pengiran Haji Hashim were also present.
The total of some 75kg of plastic bottles and 70kg of non-plastic material wastes were collected and more than 80 Scouts members, comprising Scouts Commissioners, Scouts Leaders and Rover Scouts got together to ensure the event's success with includes the practicing physical distancing of at least one meter away from others in the surrounding and to not engage in group activities with social responsibilities.
