"Lord Baden Powell" the founder of scouting, our father of scouting and our hero. It's his 163rd birthday. We as scouts organized many unique and different programs on 22nd February to celebrate the BP day. As scouts, as Messengers of Peace we, the Chilaw Scout District Branch, Sri Lanka could successfully complete a great project which is a blood donation camp that we have been doing since 10 years. It was as follows; 

On 20th of February 2020 me, our District Commissioner, scout masters and scouts distributed handbills and pasted posters to make people aware of our camp which was to be held at Vidyakara Piriwena, Chilaw town, with the sponsorship of Mrs. Shahida Hettiarachchi the chairman of the Serendib Green company and with the help of the Chilaw blood bank. As we could finished the awareness campaign on 20th, on 21st we started to clean up the place where we were going to do the project. Through cleaning up the environment we were able to cover 6 SDGs successfully. Since 21st was Sri Lanka's mahashivratri day, we also did a one day community service project at Sri Munneshwaram Devasthanam Chilaw, Sri Lanka to help them to do their worshipping easily. So after finishing the camp at Munneswaram on 22nd morning all the scouts were gathered to Vidyakara Pirivena with the help of the transportation provided by our District Commissioner. To celebrate the birthday of our lord BP on 22nd February 2020 around 8:00 a.m. all the scouts lined up near the main gate to welcome the guest of the program. The guests were, Halpanvila Palitha Thero - the buddhist religious advisor of Sri Lanka scout association Chilaw District Branch, the chief monk of Bingiriya Tampada Viharaya, Mr. Hilary Prasanna - the chairman of Sri Lanka Scout Association Chilaw District Branch, Mr. Noel Nonis - the Executive Chairman of Scout Association Chilaw District Branch, Mrs. Deshamanya Sahida Hettiarachchi - the sponsorer of the project. After the hosting up of the flags we start our camp with a short Gatha by a Buddhist monk. Opening ceremony was ended up with the wish of the guests for a successful project. Then the scouts were divideded into several groups and assigned them different tasks to do. There were lots of people coming to the camp to donate their blood and of these, there were some who participate every year to our program without missing it. They appreciate our duty and wished us for our future scouting activities. That showed the trust that people have kept on scouts and how they see our duty to others. In appreciation of their good hearts to donate blood and save a life of another we gave them acertificate and a memorable award. Finally at the closing ceremony me, the Messenger of Peace Coordinator of Chilaw District Branch Sri Lanka and our District Commissioner made the scouts aware about what MoP is and what we should do next to spread peace among others. Next two scouts pass their Bushmen's Thong Award. Then I thanked all the scout masters, scouts, parents and all others who joined the hands with us to make our project a success. Next by taking a group photo and announcing that we are Messengers of Peace, we winded up our "Blood Donation Camp 2020" organized in of 163rd BP day.
