Blister+: Helping others, one blister at a time

Have you ever wondered where empty blister packs end up? Most people toss them in the trash, mix them with food waste, or discard them improperly, harming the environment. While paper and glass are easily recycled, blister packs are often overlooked. This issue caught the attention of young scouts Glenda Godoy, Otávio Santos, and Pedro Fadel, along with leaders Adriana Silva, Flávia Cercal, Alysson Fadel, and Giulia Santos, who began brainstorming a solution. So, where do these packs go?
The municipal landfill becomes their final destination, increasing waste and environmental harm. Blister packs take 200 to 600 years to decompose. The Grupo Escoteiro Princesa dos Campos, led by dedicated scouts, launched a project to collect these packs and changed for wheelchairs. This initiative reduces waste, raises awareness, and helps those in need. By following the scout law of "thinking of others," the project strengthens community ties and turns trash into life-changing support.
This project teaches proper waste disposal, environmental awareness, and sustainable habits, as blister packs take years to decompose. It highlights community collaboration and scout values, showing how small actions create big change. We learn the power of teamwork, problem-solving, and empathy, as collecting blister packs reduces waste and provides wheelchairs for those in need. It’s a reminder that innovative solutions and long-term thinking are key to a cleaner, greener future.
