Blankets for the Winter

I learned about the Vine Maple Place from my scout leaders and found out they were out of blankets. It gets really cold and rainy where we live and I didn't want people to be cold this winter.
Leading a group of scouts and adults, we assembled fleece blankets that would be delivered to Vine Maple Place, a local social services organization determined to end homelessness in our area. These blankets will help keep those in need warm through the winter which is especially important so they don't get sick and can sleep well. We worked for two days to cut, braid, and fold the blankets nicely using felt that was purchased through donations.
I learned a lot about leadership and how to show people how to do something especially if it seemed confusing. I also learned how it's important to stretch your goals, originally we were just going to make 20 blankets but we got enough donations which will support the group for three months through the winter.
