On 27th may 2019 Bharat scouts and guides Udupi district association’s   Scouts & Guides and Rovers & Rangers with the guidelines and supervision of Forest Department , planted mangroves sticks at MUVVATTUMUDI ,KUNDAPURA.
We all leaved udupi on 27th may 2019th morning 8.30 and reached kundapura nearby 9.15 , where the forest department’s 2 van take us to the place Muvvattumudi, where we had tea break ,after that we fall in a line where the forest Departments officers explained us about various important factors  related to Mangroves forest. :-

IMPORTANCE OF MANGROVES FOREST :

*Protect shorelines from damaging hurricane winds, waves and floods.
*Maintain water quality and clarity, filtering pollutants and trapping sediments originating from land.
*Their leafs absorbs more carbon dioxide as compared to other trees.
* Therefore 1 acre of mangroves forest is equal to  5 acres of other forest.
*Extremely productive ecosystem.
*Reduction of erosion from storm surges, currents, waves & tides with their tangled root system.
*Stabilization of coastline.
*Intricate root system of mangroves also make these forests attractive to fish and other organisms.
*Huge hotspot of food and shelter from predators.
*Provide numerous good and services both to the marine environment and people.
*Home to large variety of fish, crab, mollusk species, shrimp etc.
*Costal protection: their dense root system trap sediments flowing down rivers and of the land.
*Given the diversity of life inhabiting mangrove systems, coral reefs and sandy beaches attract tourists.
*Mangrove’s wood resistance to rot and insects , timber is also used as construction materials as well as for fuel .

We all planted mangroves sticks very interest fully, where all of us feel proud to contributing towards healthy environmental building plans. All of us enjoyed while walking in muddy water and planting mangroves , It’s so inspired us towards environmental protection.

After lunch , Forest department’s various officers interacted with us at their quarters , and some of scouts guides asked their doubt with regarding to mangroves and also other issues related to  environmental and deforestation.

Seeing our interest , sprit and enthusiasm Forest department’s officers conducted small tour in boat to enjoy the mangroves forest. Where all participants forget strain and involve themselves with nature.

This plantation really seems to be productive and very helpful to environmental stabilization , we all contribute towards the World Environmental Day 2019th  Theme “Beat Air Pollution”
Nearly  5 PM we all leaved the kundapura and went our respective habitat.
