The Beach Cleaning Project

Ever wonder what's those smell coming from when you're strolling along the beaches or just sitting enjoying the sunset or sunrise by the seaside. Tons of people love hanging out by the beach but from what I've been observed, tons of trash also being left being right on the beach too. With time passing by, those thrash start to create awful odor and attract stray animals. The aim is to take a small steps by cleaning one beach at a time.

This particular project taken place at Pantai Saujana, Port Dickson. Joint effort between King Scout Brotherhood Malaysia and King Scout Brotherhood Negeri Sembilan prepare and set up all the necessary equipment for this beach cleaning project to ensure everything is ready to go to make this beach cleaning project easier for participant.

Estimated about 2000 people benefited from this project as this is one of the most popular beaches in the area. By cleaning up the beach, people can enjoy the beach without having to deal with bad smells and worrying about getting injured while walking barefoot by the beach. In total, we collected about 225Kg of trash from the beach. After that, we separated the trash into different pile of categories so some of them can be recycle.

From this project, I learned that we need to give more awareness to the public in regarding cleanness of the beach and also for city council, more thrash can needed to be set up so more people can have easier access to thrash can as this will reduce the amount of thrash being created on the beach.
