Beach Cleaning and Winter Clothes Distribution

Karachi the coastal city has many villages along its coastal line. A scouting activity was held to familiarize the young scouts with the local people and their daily life challenges. A beach cleaning activity along with the distribution of warm clothes to the villages was done by the scouts.
The project was implemented at the Hawksay beach of Karachi where Abdul Rehman Village is found. The villagers fish in the coastal waters for a living. The current climate changes and access to fishing in the Arabian waters by commercial trollers have highly affected the fishing of these local villagers. The project was Organized by the Burhani Scouts Group: Division XIII Shabbirabad, to have the young scouts engage with the villagers and learn about global warming and its effects.
The project highly impacted the 40 participants. They learned about the environmental changes and how it is affecting the people living and depending on these sources. The villagers were benefitted by learning about the consequences of accessive fishing and the cleanliness of the environment.
we learned that we realize the effect of global warming when we go out of our comfort zone and actually interact with those who are directly affected by climate change. We need to provide them with basic knowledge to less harm their environment and work for better future for their generations to come.
