AZ Berman PS inspiring confident young readers

This project was motivated by a wish to help learners access books easily and confidently. By encouraging them to choose their own reading material, the team hoped to inspire curiosity and a deeper interest in learning. With support from Yeboneers and YeboScouts, learners explored stories, discovered new subjects, and gained the confidence to use library resources independently.
The team guided learners through selecting books, exploring the library, and practising research skills. Sessions focused on reading for meaning, choosing stories based on interest, and understanding how to find information. Learners engaged well, enjoyed the activities, and participated enthusiastically in each reading task.
Learners were excited throughout the activities and enjoyed the hands-on approach. The team noted that having access to books boosted motivation and confidence. Allowing children to choose their own reading material made the experience more meaningful and encouraged them to explore new ideas with enthusiasm.
