Awareness Matters: Health Screening
I got inspired to do a project when I listened to a speech related to MOP facilitated by ADC-Program during a workshop for senior scouts on the 5th and 6th of February at the district headquarters in Colombo
On the 26th of May at 7:00 A.M. when all the participants arrived, They were registered. After this, the participants were checked for their weight, height, and BMI, Then the participants were measured for blood pressure and blood investigation After this, the doctors predicted cardiovascular risk for the next 10 years for the participants. Finally, there was also an exercise program and health education sessions for the participants.
With 103 beneficiaries from this project, it has many impacts on the community main impacts being, to promote the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, to promote interventions to reduce the main shared modifiable risk factors for non-communicable diseases: tobacco use, unhealthy diets, physical inactivity and harmful use of alcohol
Hosting a screening project taught me about communication, planning, and problem-solving. I learned the importance of clear communication with teachers and coordinating schedules. Planning and organization were crucial for success, and I realized the need to be prepared and organized. I faced challenges but found creative solutions, improving my problem-solving skills. Overall, hosting the project boosted my confidence and provided valuable skills for the future.
