AGORA 22: For Rovers by Rovers!
Rovers for Rovers! The Agora is an excellent way to prove and demonstrate the power of Youth Empowerment, where a group of rovers from different countries, plan develop and implement an event for the benefit of other Rovers of the Region, which will have an impact on all Rovers in the participant's countries and by extension of the Region and beyond. The main topic, Sustainability and SDGs were one of the most demanded issues to treat by the young people!
Our project was implemented in the Ohrid Scout Centre, in North Macedonia. With a planning Team of 5 Rovers coming from diverse countries we planned and delivered a 5 days event for more than 60 Scouts, also coming from the Eurasia Region, where they aim to have their first similar event in August this year. Theoretical sessions, workshops, discovering the surroundings and also community service activities took place in a very nice and welcoming ambiance.
By starting to get involved in their NSO/As, not just at their local level but in their teams and structures, proposing projects, and events or just spreading the word about the Agora within other rovers, they are already making an impact on the overarching goal of Youth Empowerment.
We expect to see some of the participants having taken some responsibility in the regional or national teams of their organisations or even being part of the region as volunteers
The importance of keeping motivated and active the people engaged in the project. Also, the vast resilience that our young adults have and how giving them room and autonomy can overcome the challenges in a more creative way, and adapt to the situation quickly and easily.
There's always room to improve and make it better, probably a bit more previous information to the participants before reaching the event would have allowed them to prepare and do some more background research.
