Access to clean drinking water

KwaZulu-Natal is one of the Provinces that are faced with water shortage and sewage disposal crisis. And to make matters worse in 2013 some parts of the rural areas in the Province hardly had rain. 1st Manyoba Pack was concerned about access to clean drinking water. Water in their community becomes filthy on rainy days due to unavailability of toilets. In winter they share the water with live stock. This project was led by Nelisiwe Dlamini, to start the project the Group ran a workshop on water purification, where they prepared a funnel, and put cotton wool in it. They added rough sand on top of the cotton wool and later put fine sand. They fetched water from the river to pour in the funnel. Below the funnel they placed a 20 liter bucket with a tap and proceeded by adding 2 tablespoons of chlorine in the bucket. The waited for 24 hours in order for the water to been ready for drinking.
