8019 Cranes for Peace in Nepal
As part of the Peace Programme of the 23rd World Scout Jamboree, each Scout Unit is encouraged to bring 100 cranes that will be made into Senbazurus and presented at the Children’s Peace Monument in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. So we planned to conduct the activity in our unit.
We from Subhas Scout Group had a wish that all the victims of the recent Earthquake in Nepal will Rest in Peace, so we thought of making it unique by creating 8019 cranes for the 8019 victims of Nepal Earthquake.
With a team of 27 Scouts and 7 Rovers we completed the activity within 11 days. We also planned to display all the Cranes in a different manner which is specific and unique.
On 14.07.2015 we displayed the cranes in form of Nepal's boundary and meshed it with color of their National Flag. The Program was inaugurated by Shri. Ganesan, District Chief Commissioner/ICF Dist in the presence of Smt. Vijaya Venkatesan, District Commissioner Guides/ICF District, Shri. Gajendra Babu, State Organising Commissioner/SRBSG, Shri. Kennedy George Ebi, Inspector Scouts,SRBSG and Shri. Arivazhagan, Group Leader Scouts/Subhas Scout Group.
