62nd Petaling Scouts Troop Field Trip to Kuala Lumpur City

On the 9th of June 2017, we had a field trip to Kuala Lumpur City. We intend to learn of Scouting in our home country, which is Malaysia, also to expand our basic knowledge of the country itself. In this field trip, we were given several tasks by our Scoutmasters to accomplished by the end of the day. Firstly, we made our way to BP House, which is the Headquarters of the PPM (Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia). There, we learned about the basics and the organizations of Malaysian Scouting. Moreover, we made a visit to the Scout Shop beside it and went on with our task, which was finding out who the Chief Scout of Malaysia and Chief Scout Commissioner of Malaysia are. After the completion of the tasks, we got ourselves going to the next destination, which is Petaling Street, a tourist attraction, which is just a few minutes away. Then, we arrived in Petaling Street, being given our next tasks: 1. Look for Petaling Street Air Mata Kucing, 2. List 15 Malaysian food or drinks, 3. List 10 fruits sold in Petaling Street, 4. Buy lunch and head to Shin Kee Beef Noodle Shop. After all those tasks and the fun escapade we had, we ate lunch at the beef noodle shop and were given the next tasks: 1. Go to Sri Mahamariamman Temple and find out how they celebrate Thaipusam, 2. Go to Guan Di Temple and find out why Joss sticks are used for praying, 3. Make your way to Central Market, a tourist attraction for artifacts and handicrafts (minutes away too) and then to Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square). After the short expedition, we were given the task to investigate the historical significance of Merdeka Square, to estimate the height of the flagpole, and then to get a picture of Sultan Abdul Samad Building. After the investigation, we rested and took some candid photos. On a side note, the field at Merdeka Square was wide, so we ran around and had fun. After the rest, we made our way back to BP House and left for Lake Gardens. Upon arriving Lake Gardens, more tasks were given at hand. We had to study several types of plants, birds, and animals and also their scientific names. While we did our research, we took a nice stroll around the garden. We gave comments and asked questions in order to satisfy our curious minds. We then rested at the jetty and then rode the KL Tram, passing the National Mosque and the National Planetarium and enjoyed the passing sceneries that we might have missed before. After the tour, we headed back to Lake Gardens. Right away, we went to the playgrounds and played a little. Then, we took several group photos. The day ended with one of our fellow scouts, receiving her Tenderfoot badge. Then, we headed back to school and the fun ends. It was indeed tiring but it was great that we had brought back adventurous memories. Til then, Happy Scouting :)
