
500 Mangrove Trees Planting in-conjunction World Forestry Day with iM4U
This trees planting project was organized by Scout of The World Voluntary Service Team, supported by 1Malaysia for Youth (iM4U) in-conjunction with World Forestry Day. This meaningful activity took place 2 days from 21 March 2015 to 22 March 2015 at Penang Inshore Fishermen Welfare Association's Small Mangrove Education Centre, Sungai Chenaam, Seberang Perai Selatan, Penang.
on 21 March 2015, Scouts of The World Voluntary Service Team had started preparation at Small Mangrove Education Centre. The team start to loading and unloading mangrove tree from seedling site to planting site and also to clean up the bushes in the planting site to prepare a convenient route for participants to reach to the site easily.
22 March 2015, total over 130 participants had gather at Small Mangrove Education Centre, all of them are scouts from the scout troop around Nibong Tebal district and some from Georgetown (South) district. A short briefing was given to all the participants before they start to move inside the mangrove forest. Participants were enjoyed the planting experience in the swampy mangrove forest.
Lunch also served for all participants after the simple closing ceremony on noon.
