2SW Cubs & Meerkats support local animal sanctuary

As part of the National Challenge on Health and Well-Being we aimed to show our Meerkats and Cubs that they too can support local charities who help animals that have experienced the worst traumas. We visited the local Glen Graze sanctuary that cares for horses, donkeys, dogs, cats and an array of other small farm animals.
Due to the terrible weather we were not able to paint the paddock fences as planned, but we donated fruit & vegetables, cat & dog food, chicken feed, blankets, etc. that they collected prior to the visit for the animals in Glen Graze. We were introduced to all the animals and It was terrible to hear the trauma many of them had been through. The children asked many questions about what the organisation does and also fed some of the animals and showed some love and care to the horses.
We learned about organisations helping those who cannot help themselves. The Cubs & Meerkats also learned that at their age they can make a difference in the lives of animals and people. In this project by collecting food and blankets, by feeding the animals and by showing their support. We were all able to leave with a sense of having contributed to helping the animals we met.
