" 24 Army & Police Officers join the Messenger of Peace"
24 Army Officers and Police Officers from 20 Districts were trained on Community Based Scouting and Messenger of Peace Global Network Initiatives by 8 Bhutan Scouts Association staff.
The Officers were briefed on Messenger of peace global network initiative and community based scouting. The rationale behind introducing scouting to the armed force is mainly to equip them with adequate skills to conduct youth program for the young people living in the army colony during the vacation. Young people in the army colony faced lot of issues, problems, needs and concerns and are unable to address such problems. To address such problems, there is a need for the armed force to address such issues such issues. This is a result of the young people living in cramped rooms of the family colonies in the army barracks. The families do not have any privacy and are exposed to lot of violence and alcohol issues in the barracks.
A training on scouting fundamental principles and Messenger of Peace comes an appropriate time. Sessions started from as early as 8:30 am and continued till 6:00 pm in the evening. Six modules on MoP were conducted in the six day training.
