(2019 July) 8/16 km Hike for Usaha and Maju Badge
The troop's annual hike for our Juniors Scouts as part of the requirements to obtain Usaha/Maju badge. The 8 km hike was carried out in Subang Jaya, while the 16 km hike took place in Kuala Lumpur.
The 8 km hike was held mainly for our Junior Scouts to familiarize themselves with the area around their school so that they are aware of the different places and infrastructures that are available which may be of future use. Examples of such places are police stations, clinics, hospitals, and universities. They were given a variety of tasks to be completed, which served as a fun way to increase their general knowledge and awareness. One of the exciting moments is that they were given a chance to slide down the 'sliding pole' like firefighters in a fire station.
On the other hand, the 16 km hike that took place in the wondrous Kuala Lumpur, the largest city in Malaysia, was to let our Junior Scouts experience the many beautiful places in it. It was a good chance for them to broaden their horizons by visiting historical places, landmarks, and memorials that are unique to Malaysia. Examples of such places are the National Mosque, National Planetarium, National Muzeum, National Monument, Petronas Twin Tower, and BP House. They were also given fun-filled tasks while enriching themselves with the Malaysian culture.
