On the 6th of August 2017, the 1st MOP Sarawak Climbathon and Malaysia Scout Day 2017 was held and celebrated at Gunung Mount Serapi. It was a largely attended activity with over 1500 participants. The 1st Kuching Scouts of SMK St Thomas also participated in this following activity. We gathered at our school before 6:30 a.m. and departed around 7:00 a.m. after everyone else arrived. When we got there, there were a few speeches given by VIPs, the officialing of the 1st in Sarawak Climbathon and the singing of our national anthem, Negaraku. After that, the race began around 8:30 a.m. We the 1st Kuching Scouts started up together but got seperated a little while afterwards. Although, not before long we reunited at the top. We took some pictures as a momento of us reaching the top of this mountain. There was a panoramic view on the top and it got foggy at times as it was still early. After the photo taking, we headed back down the mountain. It took us around 40 minutes to get back down which was definitely faster than going up. We claimed our medals and participation certificates at the bottom and took more pictures as another memory of our success in reaching both the top and back to the bottom safely. Shortly afterwards, the bus arrived and we were sent back go our school. We were all worn out but definitely enjoyed ourselves and I personally wouldn't mins going back up there again one day.
