1st Malaysian Sea Scout Gathering @ Titiwangsa Lake Park, KL
4 Rovers from C Fort attended the 1st Malaysian Sea Scout Gathering as IST with 2 participants for 7th Fort with 1 accompanying leader. I was one of the IST involved.
We all met up at the Titiwangsa Lake Park (Taman Tasik Titiwangsa) early in the afternoon at about 2 to register ourselves and collect our activity kit. The camp runs like a Jamboree with multiple stations available for the Scouts to enjoy and learn from. Since it is a national event, every state had sent representatives to learn new things and enjoy Sea Scouting at it's basics.
I was in charge of the water confidence activity site, just by the kayaking and life saving stations. Our main activity rotates around the using the lake. I had to teach every patrol of scout basics of water confidence in a life jacket, and how to trust themselves and each other. We taught them how to float and trust the life jackets and swim with them. Life jackets are important as basic safety equipment when doing any water activity. We would pair up with the life saving station and act as 'people in distress'.
I had the honour of raising the flag for the first colours ceremony of the camp.
Big thanks to Mr Hilmi for inviting us and allowing us to enjoy the whole event.
