1st Durbanville: Yard Clean at SNAP School Site
1st Durbanville's Scouts became aware of a SNAP School Academy that needed help to clean away an overgrown garden and other refuse at their Klipheuwel school site. They immediately arranged a clean up date with the school. SNAP caters for the special educational needs of learners with Autism and/or Specific Learning Disabilities or Challenges.
The clean-up was no small task but our Scouts arrived armed with gardening equipment and after several hours, years and years of overgrowth, rubble, wood, metal, plastic, and more was cleared. What once felt overwhelming to the school committee was transformed by our Scouts into a space filled with hope and possibility. The difference is truly remarkable.
The message from the Chairman of the SNAP School Academy said it all: "Thank you for helping to make the bigger vision for our Young Adults group possible. You are making a lasting difference." Our Scouts learned that serving a community in need is incredibly rewarding.
