14th National & 2nd SAANSO JAMBOREE - Pakistan
14th National & 2nd SAANSO (South Asian Association of National Scout Organization) Scouts Jamboree was held at Khairpur Mirs Sindh, Pakistan from 16-23 December, 2014. More than 4000 Scouts & Leaders from Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Philippines, USA participated in this mega event which was held after a decade. Jamboree was inaugurated by Mr. Manzoor Hussain Wassan, Minister for Prison, Mines, Mineral and Anti-Corruption, Government of Sindh on 17th December, 2014. In a simple and graceful ceremony, Fateha was offered for victim of Army Public School Peshawar. Flags were hoisted on half mast & resolution was passed in the honour of shaheed students. Scouts ensured that they will become more active for sustainable Peace in the Country. During the Jamboree a number of activities were offered to the youth including Messengers of Peace (Road Show).
The Scouts, Girls in Scouts and Non Scouts Youth were offered following Messengers of Peace (MOP) activities:
a. MOP Registration:
4000 Boy Scouts from all over Pakistan and SAARC Countries (Afghanistan and Bharat) participated. Initial registration was completed in 04 Sub-Camps with the help of trained MOP Pakistan Team for MOP Awareness activities
b. Drawing “What Peace means to Me”
Successfully organized one of the content of MOP activities, Drawing sheets were distributed among the participants to express their thoughts regarding Peace through writing and drawings.
c. Story Telling / Videos
Participants experienced the motivational videos, watched through multimedia during the MOP activities. Different types of Games were also played to motivate them to share their own experiences
d. Game Networking
Small groups of Participants were formed and different games were played by using rings, holding with the help of threads and carrying balls, glass (full of water) shifting from one place to another
e. Introduction and Registration on MOP Networking
Network of the MOP on the internet and registration system in the MOP Network were introduced. During the activity, a small lab consisting of 15 computers were established, before the online registration a small introduction of website (www.scout.org), registration system and uploading of service hours was delivered
f. Peace Wall
A 32 feet long Peace Wall was hanged in the Jamboree Arena and each one was asked to write a Peace Message in his or her language. Scouts from all the participating countries and Guests / Visitors written Peace Messages on the wall.
Ms. Nafeesa Shah, Member National Assembly also witnessed the Messengers of Peace (MoP) activities and wrote following message on the 32 feet hanging Peace Wall:
“Children are the best messengers of peace. Homage to the 150 Shaheeds of Peshawar. I am peace. Well done Pakistan Scouts Movement & Organizers of 14th National Jamboree”.
Closing Ceremony was held on 23rd December, 2014.
