124th Anniversary of the Philippine Constitution
Back in 1899, with the establishment of the Philippine Republic, the Malolos Congress was designated as the Assembly of Representatives in the constitution. The constitution as a whole is a testament to the Filipinos' ability to chart their own democratic course. It represented the ideals of the people who had emerged from the Dark Ages into the Light of Reason during a time of storm and stress.
20 scouts volunteered to serve during the commemoration of the 124th anniversary of the constitution of the Republic of the Philippines. The event started at around 8:30 am, but we scouts were present starting at 7:00 in the morning. We served to promote the orderliness of the event and watch the opening ceremonies as well. We assisted in maintaining the orderliness of the event, however military personnel were present which was why we were not able to take documentation.
As scouts, we do our duty to our country by celebrating an important peace in Philippine history, and doing everything we can to participate in making our nation better. By commemorating the Malolos Congress, people can learn more about the country's struggle for independence and the role of Filipinos in shaping their destiny. This can help to instill a sense of national pride and patriotism, as well as a deeper understanding of the importance of democracy and freedom.
I learned that serving the country and taking a look back into our own history is really important for us to know how our ancestors used to fight for our peace and freedom, and how we scouts should continue to preserve what they fought for.
