WORLD SCOUTS JAMBOREE ON THE AIR & JAMBOREE ON THE INTERNET 21-22 OCT 2017

Tanzania scouts participated in the World Scouts Jamboree on the air which took place all over the world. in Tanzania the event took place Nationally at Zanzibar Island on Friday evening the 20th Oct 2017 until 22nd Oct 2017. Since 2011 TSA decided to commemorate the JOTA-JOTI camps Nationally out of Dar Es Salaam city. In 2011 Jota-Joti camp took place at Arusha Region. In 2014 Jota-Joti camp took place at Morogoro Region. In 2015 Jota-Joti camp took place at Dodoma Region. In 2016 Jota-Joti camp took place at Simiyu Region. In 2017 Jota-Joti camp took place at Mpendae Secondary school ground, West Region, suburb, in Zanzibar the spicy Island. Chief Guest in Official opening ceremony was Mr. Khamisi Kheir who is the National Youth Chairman for Zanzibar Youth Council. Chief Guest for Official closing ceremony were Mr. Amour Ali Mussa, who is the Director for West Municipal B in Western Region of Zanzibar. In his closing remarks Mr. Amour promised to donate several items for scouts of West Municapality Region and in Zanzibar generally. He offered to give land for scouting activities, Radio Communications equipments and uniforms for some scouts who do not have the uniforms. Official closing ceremony took place at the same venue in sunday evening 22nd October 2017. Scouts received training in Radio Communications, Internet connection, theory and practically. There were some challenges in H.F. High Frequency Radio communications, very few radio contacts were made, but scouts really enjoy VHF Radio network communications as they were divided into patrols and calling one another by using VHF Radio network and International Alphabets were using. Communication in Joti were very good and scouts really enjoy the conversation with their fellows scouts. Communications were made in Skype calls, Scoutlink webchats, facebook, twitter and Instagram. Among the interested communication were skype calls with our fellow scouts from neighbouring country of Kenya, in which swahili language were using. Communication with Indonesia scouts were also funny as scouts sing some songs, exchange ideas, and teaching one another local language, like, jambo, habari gani, jina lako nani, una miaka mingapi??? etc. Some of the invited guests were Red Cross volunteers from Zanzibar. about 60 scouts participated in the event, this includes 40 male and 20 female. Zanzibar scouts thanked TSA headquarters for bringing JOTA JOTI National event in spicy Island of Zanzibar, and request TSA to do the same in the future. Jota Joti countries contacted were:= 1.
