Workshop for ‘Revival of Kashmiri Art through Children Project’ Held at Anantnag Kashmir

A Two Day workshop on Kashmiri Folk Dance (Damael) under the ‘Revival of Kashmiri Art through Children’ Project was held at Froebel Public School Gulshanabad Anantnag on 5th and 6th Oct. 2017. The workshop targeted to train 21 children from the school in the field of Damael- the Kashmiri Folk Dance and trained them in the basics of the art like body movement, Zikr (prayer), Lalbandh, Ghatak Bazi, Zikhir (Ecstasy). They were trained by two well-known Damael performers of Kashmir- Mr. Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah and Mohd Altaf Shah. On the final day Children and artists presented Damael Performane in front of the students, teachers and selected parents of the school. Audience applauded the performance and expressed their gratitude to the trainers and the participating students.
