TREEHOUSE CHILDREN’S HOME LIBRARY
Treehouse children’s home is based in Luckysummer area in Nairobi, Kenya. It is a home for children who have been abandoned by their parents. Together with a team of scouts and scout leaders in Nairobi, we do visit the home in December each year to share Christmas with the children. During one of the visits we noted that the home had a store for keeping books and it was so crowded and therefore the need for a library. We therefore decided to set up a library for them. The project was divided into two phases: Phase 1 was to fundraise towards renovating one of the rooms and setting up the right furniture for the library and phase 2 was to conduct a book drive so as to stock the library with the current books. We were able to raise 1300 dollars which we used to do part of the project. The room was renovated and some shelves set up with some books. The children at the home are already enjoying services at the library especially during the holidays and also after school. The project is still on and by the end of the year it should be fully functional.
