The 9th National Scout Jamboree Logo Launch and Media Conference was held on Wednesday 16th September 2015 at 5.30 p.m. at the “The Blue” at Colombo Hlton under the distinguished patronage of Hon. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Minister of Education.. Prof. Nimal de Silva Chief Commissioner delivered the Welcome Address and said that this is the first time a National Scout Jamboree is being held in the Northern Province and requested the support of everyone to nake it a successful event . The Jamboree will be held from 20-26 February 2016 in Jaffna and 10,000 scouts are expected. A Video presentation on Scouting and Jamboree was presented by the Scout Media Unit . A cultural presentation by the Vidura College added colour to to the event. Thereafter Hon. Minister ceremonially launched the Logoand the New website of the Sri Lanka Scout Association. on. Minister addressed the gathering and recalled his days as a scout and assured his fullest support for a successful Jamboree. He requsted the Corporate sector and other organisations to help in securing sponsorship for the jamboree. Media conference was held followed by the Launch.The President of SLSA Mr. C. Baruwangala, Chief Commissioner Prof. Nimal de Silva, Chairman of the Committee of the Council Mr Ransiri Perera , Deputy Chief Commissioner Mr Shiraz Salih, Joint Organizing Commissioiners of the Jamboree M.F.S. Muheed and Damien Silva were associated at the Conference presided over by the Hon. Minister.
