#Scouts take part in the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly #UNGA

Scouts have many values in common with the United Nations. For instance, we believe that a better world is possible! The United Nations General Assembly gathers state representatives, as well as civil society representatives and other international organisations to talk about different issues that affect humanity and how we can collaborate to solve them. As the largest educational youth movement in the world, Scouting has the potential to impact millions of children and young people around the globe towards creating a more peaceful and sustainable world. For 2023, we want to have at least 100 million Scouts creating positive change in our communities! Just a month ago, at the 41st World Scout Conference in Azerbaijan, we adopted a resolution regarding the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. We are committed to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by thinking globally and acting locally. However, we have to say that our contribution to sustainable development is not new. It is well known by us and by those outside of the Movement that Scouts are always trying to leave this world a little bit better than how we found it. In fact, here at scout.org we are always posting good news and sharing projects about what Scouts are doing to create a better world.

For this high-level week of the 72nd UN General Assembly (#UNGA), the Scout Movement is represented by us, three of the six recently-elected Youth Advisors to the World Scout Committee: Our three main objectives are to:
  • attend events related to youth or to other relevant topics for Scouting and share the content digitally so that other Scouts can learn about them.
  • meet other organisations (especially youth-related), and... most importantly...
  • tell people about Scouting and what we’re doing to create a better world!
