SCOUTS SET TO TRAIN TEACHERS TO SUSTAIN ESTABLISHMENT OF TROOPS IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS IN DELTA STATE OF NIGERIA
The Government of Delta State has given approval for the establishment of Scout Troops and training of at least two teachers each in all primary and secondary schools across the state.
This idea is to engage the students in activities that will reawaken their consciousness through mindset change and social reorientation thereby instilling in the youths the spirit of unity and as agents of change in their local and global community.
Issues of cultism and drug abuse is being tackled in public educational institutions today - Scouts have been recognized by the government as the foremost non-formal educational youth organization that can create the desired social impact on the development young people in institutions and communities.
The Delta State Scout Council is putting plans in place to train the first batch of school teachers in general information and basic training courses for Scout Leaders before the end of December 2019.
This gesture will enable the Scout Troops once established to be sustain by the teachers who are trained Scout leaders to train other students from year to year as the students graduates and fresh ones are being admitted.
