Scouts for Scouts by Kandy District
“Scouts for Scouts” the service platform of Kandy District Scout Branch of Sri Lanka Scout Association launched a humanitarian project for 14 scout families who are facing difficulties due to lack of permanent jobs or being unable to work due to the prevailing situation in the country based on information and recommendations of their Scout Masters.
The distribution of dry rations was carried out among these 14 families on 09.04.2020. The main problem we had was buying and transporting goods under the existing curfew for the whole country. But we were able to find a vehicle with curfew license and obtain necessary permits to launch this project.
This project was successfully held with the sponsors of Scout Masters and Scout Groups in Kandy District and only few number of Scout Masters participated in this project due to the COVID-19 out break in the country.
Moreover, we will continue this project and look into their families until this situation in the country is over.
Furthermore, we found 3 scout families who are unable to go to pharmacies to buy their essential medicines due to this curfew in the country. So we were able to buy these medicines with their money and deliver them to their places.
