Scouts Run 4 Environment

A REPORT ABOUT SCOUTS RUN 4 ENVIRONMENT ORGANISED BY BUTAMBALA SCOUTS YOUTH FORUM AT KIBIBI SECONDARY SCHOOL IN KIBIBI SUBCOUNTY BUTAMBALA DISTRICT, UGANDA ON 17TH JUL 2016. FROM :BUTAMBALA SCOUT YOUTH FORUM TO : THE GENERAL PUBLIC TERMS OF REFERENCE : The programme ran from morning up to evening. It was kicked off by the arrival and equipping participants with marathon kits comprising a marathon scarf with a clause "ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IS OUR VIRTUE", a sports t-shirts with a clause "SCOUTS RUN FOR THE ENVIRONMENT" and a bottle of water from World Vision Uganda and Mr Kasujjja Emmmy respectively. Participants came from all over the country especially from within Butambala District comprising of all age groups led by area councilor to the district Hon Musoke Abbas. Participants were flagged off by the head teacher Kibibi SS Mr Kizito Musa then ran through the prescribed routes. For about twenty-five minutes the best competitor by the names of NKWANGA CHARLES was back from a run of 15kms and awards for best 20 competitors preceeded from the organizing committee and Youth Alliance. The run was conducted alongside blood donation from Uganda blood transfusion services and sexaul reproductive health services from Youth Alliance for empowerment. Through the programme, the director marathon event /chairperson Butambala Scouts Youth Forum Mr KIBALAMA MADI challenged every participants to take part in environmental protection programs and empower the youths for sustainable peace and development which is a compliment to nation building by changing boys and girls from "what can I get attitude" to "what can I give attitude". The regional coordinator Sentongo Hamid Haj with gratitude thanked the Forum for such a wonderful and sensitive programme in world scouting on behalf of Uganda Scouts Association. World Vision Uganda, Uganda Blood Transfusion Services and Youth Alliance for Empowerment were grateful for Mr Kibalama's dependability and pledged to work with Scouts in future activities for rendering services to the world. Scouts from Kibibi SS took part in a play about VIOLENCE awaring the public about the havoc affiliated with violence in the community. According to him, the Chairperson recommended violence as the next project to add on environmental protection programs. CONCLUSION: Political leaders and Youth Alliance for Empowerment pledged to join hands in the scouts struggle for protecting the environment and ending violence in the respective communities and emphasized students to stay in school as this is a vital engine for development. RECOMMENDATIONS: The director marathon event was advised to develop the event up to national level and make more collaboration with partners and volunteers with similar objectives in his struggle for protecting and conserving the environment and in ending violence of any kind.
