Scouts reach out the victims of typhoon Ulysses | Rover Circles United 08 of Cabanatuan City
Last November, Typhoon Ulysses ravaged Luzon with its strong winds and heavy rains. Low-lying areas in the city of Cabanatuan were especially vulnerable to the storm and a lot of families were affected of the torrential rains that resulted in flooding.
To aid the victims, Rover Circles United 08 of Cabanatuan City Council immediately took action and spearheaded a donation drive from November 11 - November 23 in collaboration with the Kapatiran Chapter International Order of Demolay and National Eagle Scouts Association of the Philippines Agapito-Garcia Chapter No. 07. Contributions were accepted in the form of monetary and in-kind donations. Through the generosity of the sponsors, the scouts were able to repack 500 bundles each containing rice, canned goods, coffee sachets, biscuits, and bottled water. The benefactors were residents of the barangays of Matadero, Kaingin, Sumacab Norte, and Sumacab West. Donations were also sent to affected communities in Dingalan, Aurora and Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija.
Before the distribution of the donation packs, the scouts held a feeding program where they fed the residents warm, nutritious soup. With the assistance of barangay officials, the volunteers gave one pack for each family in their respective barangay halls. Afterwards, the scouts also initiated a clean-up drive in the mentioned barangays, where they helped picked up trash and clean the area. Allthroughout the course of the operations, proper social distancing and precautions were observed to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
