Scouts PH project entry to Project for the Planet

We are once again proud to be one of the projects to represent the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Western Visayas Region, and Bacolod City Council in the international stage through the Project for the Planet Campaign of the World Organization of the Scout Movement! The Philippines is one of the largest contributors of plastic in the entire world, with an estimated 0.75 million metric tons of mismanaged plastic entering the ocean every year (World Bank Group, 2021). Enhanced production and consumption brought by growth in the country’s economy is leading to a higher generation of waste in the Philippines (Sea-Circular, 2020). As Scouts and advocates for interfaith dialogue, we acknowledge that “spiritual values for more than 80% of the people living on earth have been driving individual behaviors. In many countries, spiritual beliefs and religions are main drivers for cultural values, social inclusion, political engagement, and economic prosperity” (UNDP Faith for Earth Initiative). Our project, EnviYOUTHment, aims to empower an interfaith network of youth leaders through the Philippine Youth Network for Interfaith Dialogue of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines in leading the creation, development, and deployment of an interactive gameboard about the causes and effects of plastic pollution with the goal of reducing plastic waste and pollution through education. Help us forward our cause by sharing this post or by donating through the Scout Donation Platform, the official crowdfunding site of WOSM.
