SCOUTS IN KENYA PLEDGE TO TURN THE PLASTIC TIDE
The Kenya Scouts Association held a Badge Camp that was dedicated towards doing the Plastic Tide Turners Challenge Badge from 18th to 20th September 2022 at Rowallan Scouts Centre. The camp attracted 1640 scouts from different parts of the country and sections as well. There were 806 boys and 834 girls. The participants were introduced to Tide Turners Plastic Challenge and also taken through the various activities in line with the challenge. The program was tailored to fit the needs of the different age groups/sections represented at the camp i.e Chipukizi(12-15yrs), Mwamba(16-17yrs), and Jasiri(18-26yrs). Each of the sections had a group of leaders who facilitated sessions and guided the scouts on the activities as per the program.
The badge camp also served the purpose of creating awareness among scout leaders and their scouts of the Plastic Tide turners Challenge, therefore increasing the uptake of the challenge within the movement and encouraging the scouts to take action on plastic pollution.
