Scouts educate young people against drug abuse

There is a growing trend of Tramadol abuse among Ghanaian youth in some parts of the country. Tramadol, a restricted medication used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain, has become almost “a street drug” for the treatment of a normal pain like a headache. This has moved on from this point to becoming a drug addition issue in rendering young people addicted and almost useless in society. The Brong Ahafo Scout Council launched a drug campaign in Kintampo. The theme for the campaign was “ The role of Scouts in telling the drug story”. The aim of the campaign is to educate and reduce the rampant abuse of the tramadol. As part of the campaign, schools, religious groups and youth groups will be educated and conscientised on the effects of the drugs on people especially the youth.
