Scouting in Action: Explore, Discover, Serve
What inspired you to take up the project?
I wanted to give students an opportunity to learn beyond the classroom and experience the joy of exploration. I wanted them to become more confident, physically active, responsible, and connected with nature and our cultural heritage. Most importantly, I hoped the hike would strengthen their teamwork and inspire them to become better Scouts and responsible citizens.
What are the learnings you got from implementing this project and how would you make it better?
The hike taught me that outdoor experiences can build confidence, resilience, and stronger relationships among Scouts. As an organizer, I learned to manage responsibilities and respond calmly to challenges, while as a participant, I enjoyed learning from nature, culture, and the journey itself.
Where was your project implemented and how did you execute it?
The hike was carried out through careful planning and teamwork. Scouts were briefed on safety, first aid, and respectful behaviour before the hike. They followed the trail in patrols with escort teachers, practised teamwork and leadership, observed nature, and collected waste along the route. At Dho Rangjung Chorten, they learned about its cultural importance and reflected on the values gained from the experience.
