Reading Festival-Engaging scouts through reading

As said by His Majesty the fifth King of Bhutan, "Your success will depend on your enthusiasm and the time you invest in learning". This quote from His Majesty made me take up this project. The project was implemented in my school Khoyar Primary School. Built a temporary open library where all the books for different level students were displayed. Invited teachers and students to the reading festival. For 7 days, everybody was engaged in reading for 40 minutes every morning. Also in between for variation, different activities like co - reading, moral reading, quiz and many more were carried out to enhance reading. By the end of the 7 days, both teachers and students were somewhat into reading. This project could some how made the students love reading and built enthusiasm in reading. Now, children are very much into reading compare to before taking up this project. Team work, importance of reading, the positive impact of reading on children were some of the learning I got from this project. Further, next time I was thinking to make the children in teams read a story and prepare a role play or drama to develop the self confidence and psychomotor skills.
