Reaching out: Typhoon Ulysses Victims of San Mateo, Rizal

Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco), the country's 21st tropical storm, swept across Metro Manila and other provinces. The typhoon unleashed its strong winds and heavy rainfalls that caused low-lying areas to be severely submerged by flood. People had nothing to do but climbed up to their roofs and awaits for rescue.

Thousands of houses, establishments and transportations were extremely damage. One of the most adversely affected are those residing in low-lying areas of Marikina and Rizal. Acting in the spirit of humanity, SANGALAB Circle 10 thought of a way to be assistance to the communities that needed support in these difficult times.

The SANGALAB Circle 10, together with Messenger of Peace - Philippines, Brighton Venturers 1012 and Paranaque Eagle Scouts, organized the distribution of 100 packs of relief goods and 100pcs improvised solar lamps to the residents of Sitio Ibayo, Dulong Bayan 1, San Mateo Rizal.

Regardless of the threat of pandemic and other challenges, the Rover Scouts were proud and satisfied as they witness the smiles and aspiration in the faces of their fellow Filipinos. Adult Leaders made them realize that they are blessed because they are the ones who are helping and not the ones being helped. It shows that it is always better to give than to receive.

As Baden Powell stated, "The most worthwhile things is to try to put happiness into the lives of others.”
