PROMOTING RURAL EDUCATION THROUGH SOLAR

Students in the rural village are brilliant but they struggle a lot for their education, like waking up so early, going to fetch water from a long distance, after school doing household chores by the time, they are free to study it’s already dark with no solar light or power from the grid but just a piece of a candle. These students have to write the same exams with a student from a city where lights are everywhere. We brought solar to allow the students to have a chance to study. In Malawi, in every stage of education there is need to write National exams which brings out the smartest of the nation to go to best schools in the country, if you don’t get good grades well prepare for private college which are super expensive. With a strong passion of promoting education in the rural areas, we fundraised the money through social media as we reached out to well-wishers and some piece jobs we did as scouts. We have a school with solar and students are happy for it. Bringing solar to rural primary schools it has brought a huge impact to the students, teachers and community members. The students are able to come in the evening to study as they prepare for their lessons and exams. Teachers are able to carry out evening classes and charge their phones as such they are always reachable. And some community members are able to charges phones at school using the same solar we installed. There is a group of students looking after the solar at the school.
