One Africa, One Scout Family
Learning, Leading, and Connecting at the 2nd Africa Rover Moot
Attending the 2nd Africa Rover Moot was a life-changing experience that gave me the opportunity to represent the Lesotho Scout Association, develop my leadership skills, and connect with Scouts from across Africa. Throughout the Moot, I participated in educational workshops, cultural exchanges, and team-building activities that strengthened my communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. We also visited historical and educational sites, including Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, Hector Pieterson Museum, Vilakazi Street, Mandela House, Museum Africa, and the Transvaal Voortrekkersaal Museum, where I gained a deeper understanding of South Africa's history, heritage, and the importance of unity and social justice. One of the challenges I experienced was communicating with some participants who did not speak English, as there were no translators available to help them understand the sessions. Despite this challenge, the experience taught me the importance of patience, teamwork, and finding creative ways to communicate across language barriers. The knowledge, skills, and friendships I gained during the 2nd Africa Rover Moot will continue to benefit me and my Scout organization as I apply what I learned to empower young people, promote active citizenship, and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in my community.
