Midlands province scouts (Zimbabwe) commemorate the Africa Scout Day 2019
600+ Scouts from across the Midlands Province in Zimbabwe came together to commemorate the Africa Scout Day 2019. The camp was held in Gokwe a small agricultural town in Zimbabwe. The major highlights of the camp were
-an environmental hike, Scouts go solar awareness, environmental education and activities (World Scout Environment Programme booklet, 2009), messengers of Peace training (community initiatives) etc
The camp had all scouts from 6 years of age to 26 years of age along with their leaders.
The event was officially opened by the District Schools inspector for the Gokwe South district. The camp was full of fun and education as we reflected on the capabilities of scouts towards environmental sustainability especially in the wake of so many natural disasters happening across the globe and the recent one in Southern Africa.
