THE KENYA NATIONAL INTER-PATROL COMPETITIONS

From August 2nd to 5th, 2025, the Kenya Scouts Association (KSA) held its National Inter-Patrol Scouts Competition at Rowallan Scouts Camp. The participants, aged 12 to 26, demonstrated their mastery of Scouting fundamentals, pioneering skills, drills, creative projects, and teamwork. They were tested through both theoretical (base) tasks and hands-on project applications, all rooted in their respective youth programs. What I witnessed was nothing short of inspiring: capable young leaders with the will and power to build a better world through Scouting skills. I'd like to shine a light on the Alpha Crew from Nyeri and give them their well-deserved flowers! 💐 Their projects, by both the male and female teams truly stood out. The male team's project was an impressive integration of three World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) programs: Food for Life, Scouts Go Solar, and Plastic Tide Turners. They constructed a greenhouse using single-use plastics to house a vegetable seedbed, complete with an automated solar-powered watering system. Genius, right? The female team designed a practical and sustainable living room setup that Scout units can replicate in their meeting dens; innovative, functional, and eco-conscious. While this was a competition, in my opinion, there were no losing patrols. Everyone won! Not necessarily by being crowned national champions, but by gaining lifelong skills, forming lasting friendships and most importantly, having fun!
