A FOREST OF HOPE: ONE MAASIN Scouts Unite

At the heart of every Scout is a promise to serve, and recently, the Scouts of the Southern Leyte Council brought that promise to life. In support of a community environmental initiative, they organized a tree planting and clean-up drive in Maasin City, coming together early in the morning to make a positive impact on their surroundings. Scouts, along with Scout Leaders and community volunteers, hiked to the designated site ready to plant seedlings and care for the area. With teamwork and dedication, they planted trees that will one day grow into vital parts of the local ecosystem. After planting, the group also cleaned the area, collecting litter and clearing debris, leaving the environment better than they found it. The activity was more than just planting trees—it was a reflection of the growing movement of youth taking action for the environment. Through their efforts, the Scouts demonstrated leadership, responsibility, and a commitment to sustainability, showing that even small actions can make a meaningful difference. By planting trees, they planted hope for the future. By cleaning and caring for the area, they paved the way for healthier, greener communities. As Lord Baden-Powell said, “Try and leave this world a little better than you found it,” and through this initiative, the Scouts of Southern Leyte truly lived that message.
