Fire safety is always taken for granted. As Scouts, learning this fundamental knowledge prepares us to be skillful and careful at the same time when facing fire emergency. This course was organized by KLKM UKM and conducted by civil defence professionals from the Malaysia Civil Defence Force of the Hulu Langat District, Selangor. The course began with a theory class. All participants learnt about the fundamentals of fire chemistry. Then, all participants took part in a practical session to learn about the methods to put out a fire, which include the fire extinguisher and fire blanket methods. Through this course, we reflected on how useful this knowledge is, yet dangerous to apply if not used properly. We had gained valuable skills pertaining personal safety, which can be applied anywhere and anytime. In the end, we were able to foster a strong relationship with our trainers to learn further about fire safety. As important as it is to serve our community better, valuable knowledge such as fire safety encourages us to always care for our loved ones at all times.
