"Empowering Young People to take local actions"

Bhutan Scouts Association ( BSA) began a Messengers of Peace project, "Empowering Young People through the Scouts of the World, a project funded by Asia Pacific Regional Support Centre, World Scout Bureau was launched virtually from 16 August-12 September 2020 for 65 Rovers and 22 Rover Leaders. The Training was conducted by experts from the APR Support Centre. The virtual training was a launch pad for Bhutan Scouts Association to organize a series of face to face SWA training of trainers workshops in different locations in the Country. The face to face SWA Discovery workshops were conducted since the SWA program offers opportunity for young people to acquire the knowledge, skills & values required for becoming active world citizens to make the world a better place, starting with local community. The aims of SWA Training: • To encourage stronger involvement in the development of society by providing knowledge, skills, motivation & opportunities to face today’s global challenges. • To recognize & promote voluntary service project in the fields of development, peace & the environment.  • To encourage BSAs to develop more educational opportunities for Scouts to become global citizens. Initiate new activities for young people to take local actions and take up genuine responsibility and undertake voluntary projects to make positive impact in the community. • To increase the membership of Rovers in Bhutan The Scouts of the World Award is an accessible youth Award with the intent of turning “globalization” into a vigorous tide of positive change for humankind. It aims to help Bhutan Scouts Association to enrich the programs of Rover Section by opening up new fields of action and genuine responsibility to young adults, through partnerships with all the other actors in civil society. It is not a temporary project. In the years to come, Scouting’s credibility as a non-formal educational movement will depend on its capacity to bring forth from its ranks thousands of young men and women who have the knowledge, skills and motivation to take an active part in bringing about social change at local, national and international level, in order to create a more open, just & peaceful society We have trained about
