DAY 1: JAMBOREE HERE WE COME!
So I am resharing my stories, experiences and photos during the Philippine Centennial Jamboree!
Here's for the Day 1! More stories on my link provided below =)
After seven years… this is my first camp after high school. I have had my own solo travels and expeditions on that seven years span but this is something special though. Because its like living back the history, its like being me seven years ago. All my memories flashed back so clear that I can feel the same feeling I felt way back when I was younger. The same excitement was still there. Believe it or not, after 7 years, I still perfectly memorize the Scout Oath and Law, and the Senor Scout Code by heart, knowing that I haven’t been active for seven years, that’s something special I think! Maybe that’s how unconscious I am that my heart still loves scouting so much! And to be back again in service I am very happy. Not to mention, that I am joining the CENTENNIAL JAMBOREE! I don’t know if this is an accident or coincidence, but seriously? Of all camps that I would be joining? Its not 87th, 98th or 99th! It’s the CENTENNIAL JAMBOREE!!! WOAH! I am just ecstatic and I still can’t believe how everything worked their way out!
Am I excited? I think so yes! A week before the camp, I have pulled out my old Type A Uniform I used 7 years ago when I was still a Senior Scout. I had a little problem though, not that I grew bigger but its still big for me, plus the pants? Its waaaaaay to loose and so large that made me realize how fashion changed seven years ago that we can wear loose and big sized apparels and what’s the trend now –Slim Fit, tight and skinny!
And yep, I forgot, have I introduced myself already? I didn’t yet! A little intro, I am Mark Tarroza Dizon from Masville National High School (but it used to be Dr. Arcadio Santos National High School- Masville Annnex where I graduated way back 2007) from Parañaque City Council. I am now a freelance fashion photographer, graphic and visual artist. As we always say, “Once a Scout, Always a Scout!”, now, I am back to scouting!
Joining the camp is not easy, my fellow senior scouts and I had to pay for registration, for me, knowing this camp a little longer would have made me saving money for the camp and for other stuff needed. Determined to join, I and my little brothers (you know who you are guys!) had to do extra effort just to have additional money to help lessen our worries about the transportation fees and others. But as you have noticed, we are all okay, a fact that I am still alive is that you are reading my article right at this very moment!
Now I want you to meet my fellow Masville National High School Delegates! We’re a bunch of cool, young, active, happy and skillful scouts! Yes we are (if you get to know us better)! Hahahaha
Adult Leaders: Sir Melchor Codon, Sir Augusto Toldanes and yes, Yours Truly, Mark Tarroza Dizon (But I’m not ready to be called an adult yet! LOL!)!
Senior Scouts: Kenneth Bondoc Bernas, Mark Joseph Bagat, Ian Nioko, Ralf Temporosa, Marvin Palomar, John Ranier Tanlangit, Raymond Derla (and fellow Alumnus Christian Herodico made it there the latter days)
Special Thanks to Our MNHS Family especially to our beloved Principal Marilou De Jesus, Ma’am Hilda Monterola and Sir Emerson Sabadlab!
This is our Day 1. As early as six in the morning, we gathered at school, prepared all the things we would be needing for the whole week of the camp and yep, we are ready to go! We met our fellow scouts at Olivarez College where we waited for our bus together with Paranaque National High School and Golden Achievers Academy, we headed to the camp site in Marikina!
What could really be an improvement I must say from seven years ago is the technology! Seriously! Way back, I have my 36 shots film camera that I could use for the whole duration of the camp, and that 36 shots would be divided approximately 6-8 shots per day. Would you agree my fellow scouts (especially the older ones, I know you guys can really relate, haha!)? But look at what the technology has brought to us, we can have as much photos, selfies and groupies we can have as long as we have our batteries and enough memories on.
What else to do with the first Night? We have no scheduled activity yet! So yes, we had time to rest, prepare for our first dinner and of course visit and explore the campsite. Before sleeping, me and my bros, walked around and got ourselves familiar to the place. We went and visited the Jumbo-Market too! Who would never want to go to the Jumbo-Market!? I bet no one! We roam around the market, looked for stuff we are interested in buying at the end of the camp, shirts, souvenirs, and a lot more! We actually ate LUGAW (which is our favorite bonding food) in the market. And to end the day, we took souvenir photos to the Entrance of the Camp Site!
