Compost Manure Heap

Compost Manure Heap

On September 17, 2017 a group called Creative group of Yebilaptsa Central School did their second local action project with the help of 25 other students; the project was to construct compost manure pit. However, instead of digging pit the group made two Compost Manure Heap. Purpose of the Compost pit • To clear the degradable waste of our school • To have Organic manure for our school agricultural garden • To produce organic crops in large scale for the school students During the process, small branches, leaves and dried/wet bushes were used to make the heaps which were seen in the school campus surrounding making it dirty. The cow dung solution was also applied in different layers which is believed to fasten the decomposition process. The heaps consist of degradable waste found in the school campus. The participants said they were satisfied after working for around 3 hours where they volunteered and at the same time learnt to make organic manure out of degradable waste. The organic manure will be supplied to students’ agricultural garden after few months. At the end of the program the participants were severed with refreshment. The Project is supported by Bhutan Centre for Media & Democracy.
