Community Based Scouting Unite as ONE to help Bicol

Typhoon Rolly (Goni), which known as the most intense tropical cyclone happened in the Philippines this year, destroyed several properties in Catanduanes, Albay, Quezon and Batangas on November 1-2, 2020. It made a landfall as Category 5 - equivalent as suer typhoon and became the strongest landfall tropical cyclone on record by 1-minute winds, eclipsing the previous record held by Haiyan and Meranti.

The typhoon has affected 1.9 million people in 8 of the country’s 17 regions, leaving an estimated 845,000 people in need of assistance. People in Bicol Region got devastated due to the unforgettable disaster brought by Typhoon Rolly. Sadly, most residents have lost their properties and even love ones. According to initial reports, 10 people have lost their lives, including a five-year-old child, due to drowning and falling debris.

To reach out the victims of Typhoon Rolly, the San Mateo Municipal Rover Scouts Mission Circle 10 - SANGALAB together with Messenger of Peace - Philippines, Brighton Venturers 1012, Metro Manila East Council Rover Scouts, Rover Circles United 08 - BSP - Cabanatuan City Council and Bagacay Outfit 723 Camarines Sur organized a fund raising program entitled "SAMBIGKIS: 'SANG DAKOT NA BIGAS PROJECT FOR BICOL" to provide the needs of oragons. This collaboration was helpful to the people of Bicol Region for the reason that it raised a fund of P16,639.28. Bagacay Outfit 723 lead the repacking and distribution of relief goods, and the 80 families in Camarines Sur were the beneficiary of this project.

This kind of collaboration project and involvement of set of community based scouting from different region lead us to unite as one, to give hope to our fellow Filipinos and inspire people that life goes on no matter how hard the circumstances is.
