B.A.S.E. Vert-Vert : 2 Generations, 1 Green Mission

On March 28, 2026, I took part in the “B.A.S.E. Vert-Vert” event on the shores of the Étang de Thau in southern France. As a member of the National Rovers Team of the Scouts et Guides de France, I was there to support the project and assist the local organizing team throughout the day. The event brought together nearly 150 participants with a shared goal: taking action to protect the environment. What impressed me most was the opportunity to bring together 2 age groups of our movement that do not often take part in the same activities: the Farfadets (children aged 6 to 8) and the Rovers (young adults aged 17 to 21). The name of the event, “B.A.S.E. Vert-Vert”, reflects this idea: it refers to the light green shirts of the Farfadets and the dark green shirts of the Rovers, symbolizing the link between the youngest and oldest youth members of the Scouts et Guides de France. I was happy to see the Farfadets and the Rovers working side by side throughout the day. The older participants naturally supported the younger ones, creating a positive and caring atmosphere that brought Scouting values to life. I was also impressed by the quality of the partnerships involved in this project. Alongside the Scouts et Guides de France, Surfrider Hérault, CEN Occitanie, Sète Agglopôle Méditerranée, and the "Faisons des MERVEILLES Occitanie" program helped young people better understand local environmental challenges and demonstrated the power of working together for a common purpose. This collective action raised awareness about biodiversity, water quality, and the protection of coastal ecosystems. It also contributed to several Sustainable Development Goals, including Climate Action, Life Below Water, Life on Land, and Partnerships for the Goals. This experience showed me how young people, when supported and empowered, can make a real difference in their communities.
